During the crit we went around in groups to each others work like in the last session but discussed the work we have been producing since the last time we all met up.
I presented a couple of my pieces that I have been recently working on, these are the pieces that I had shown:
For the receipt feedback the main problem that I found as well when creating the piece is that it is not like the original. In some way the original has a better feeling about it than the reproduced pieces. One thing that I am going to do to improve this is try to dye the actual receipts in some way in order to categorize them so that it keeps its original quality.
After talking about this piece and explaining the reason behind producing these, the group gave me some ideas in which I could improve and get read to present it as a final outcome during assessment.
These are some of the ideas the group came up with:
- Go larger with the receipts and cover a whole studio space
- Lost it with the reproduction of receipts, go back to the original
- Maybe place it near shopping center to see if people notice
- Take it away and place it in an exhibition format
- Enlarge the receipts maybe as big as the wall
Some of the artists that I have been told to have a look at in relation to this is:
- Christian Boltanski
- Henry More
After looking at the receipt project I am working on I showed the group the small leaves that I am looking forward to producing for the 'Long Road Project'.
They really liked the leaf with the image printed on top as it brought up questions into how I have made them and how long it took me to do so.
I am going to keep producing these leaves with images printed on as I would like a large pile of them ready for the exhibition!
