I started by stretching the canvas around the MDF frame. The frame that I am working with is aprox A1 size.
With the piece drawing a connection with nature I wanted to create a background that has an earthy texture. I wanted to move away from the normal techniques when painting, for example using a brush. Therefore, I decided to paint using my hands as I wanted to use my senses to create this piece of art.
I gathered together various acrylics that have a colour relation to nature, so the colours I got were different browns and blacks and greens.
I used a large amount of paint in making the background as I wanted to blend the colours together to form a smooth surface.
At first this was difficult because I haven't used my heads while painting before but I really enjoyed the notion and want to have a go at this again in further paintings!
